Smart Renter

Empowering London’s renters to live smarter, save money, and protect the planet

The Challenge

Many London renters don’t realise they have a choice over installing a smart meter. Our aim was to inform and empower private renters about their rights, help them take control of energy usage, and highlight the environmental and financial benefits - all while keeping content relatable, engaging, and entertaining.

The Insight

Renters often feel powerless in their own homes - from leaky faucets to rising bills, it’s hard to know what’s fair or even possible.
Our audience is environmentally conscious, digitally savvy, and 142% more likely than average to rent - making them perfect candidates for a campaign that empowers them with knowledge and practical steps to lead a smarter life.

The Idea

We turned “smarter living” into a fun, interactive experience.

At the heart of the campaign was a digital interactive house, where users could click through each room to uncover tips, hacks, and unexpected ways to make the most of renter life. From myth-busting guides to step-by-step instructions for getting a smart meter, we combined education with entertainment.

Articles covered everything from energy-efficient meals to flatmate hacks, money-saving tips, and eco-friendly behaviours - all delivered with a playful, relatable tone. By making the learning interactive and fun, we helped renters take control of their homes, their bills, and their environmental impact - without feeling lectured.
